Food Allergies

So where do I begin....

We noticed probably about mid-May that Chase was exhibiting reactions to some of his baby food. It started when he would eat certain baby foods like peaches. He would instantly break out with hives from head to toe. Not only that once when we cooked seafood he turned completely blotchy.

So, I decided that it was about time we take a visit to his pediatrician. I made sure to document all his reactions along with pictures to share with his doctor. Like I figured she referred us to an allergist, Dr. Weldon at Scott and White.

So, first of June we went for allergy testing. This past Thursday we got the results and he tested positive for cats, milk, eggs and wheat. His levels for cats were extremely high, eggs-medium and milk-low. The only problem is even though the test shows he has a low allergy the test does not say what low is. It could be anywhere from 95% to as low as 30%. He did not test positive for shellfish, but it does not mean he is not allergic to it. No peanut test was done, but most likely he has a peanut allergy because peanut, milk and egg all fall together. So we were advised to keep him away from all!!!

This weekend we went to the lake for the 4th. In preparation to stay in the RV I put Blake's 2% milk in a container I usually mix Chase's formula in. With all the hoopla going on I FORGOT TO tell Billy. We brought the boys down to the lake to swim and Chase got fussy and Billy took him back to the RV to fix a bottle. Well, he fixed a bottle with Blake's milk.......instantly Chase went into anaphylactic shock.

A friend of ours came running down to the lake to get me and by the time I made it to the RV Chase was flushed and completely red.

We are nowhere around a hospital, so we jumped in the car and dialed 911. The ambulance met us about 12 min down the road. When they reached us Chase was covered in hives and his oxygen level was at 88%. He immediately was hooked up to an IV and benadryl was given to him. So, 2 hours, 3 steroids later we were back at the lake. Thank goodness for good medics and Burleson County St. Joseph.

We now know his milk allergy is extremely high....much.

Today we went to visit Dr. Weldon and he is extremely concerned about his milk allergy. We were sent home with epi pens and told to have it at all times, never to let him eat restaurant food, become a soy family, join support groups and to stay for away from milk, eggs and peanuts.

I still have my baby.....thank you God!

Disney Day 2

So, all my pics are in the wrong order. Since, Magic Kingdom is so big with lots for Blake to do we started our morning out there during early Magic Hours. We spent the other half of the day at Epcot!

We started the morning out with eating with some of Blake's favorite characters: Stitch, Lilo, Mickey & Pluto. I don't think Blake was sure what to think of all them. He can't asking me over and over if they were fake. Like I said in a previous post anything in costume freaks him out. The breakfast was at the Polynesian Resort.

Next we are on to the Magic Kingdom! Since we had a character breakfast we had a little late star, so the longs lines where starting to form. I think tomorrow we will use the Magic Hours...I hear they are very helpful!!

Now if you know my boy you know he loves cars, trucks and tractors. He would have waited all day to ride in a car. I remember riding this with my mother when I was little.

We headed back to the hotel about 1:30 so Blake could nap. Around 6:30 we arrived back at Magic Kingdom for supper, more rides and fireworks.

I just loved all the balloons...pretty!!!

The spinning teacups...lines where much better in the evening. We now know for Magic Kingdom magic hours and evenings are best times for rides with young kids.

Disney World - Arrival

I cannot believe we are here! A trip that was four years in the making. I started saving for this trip the summer after I had Blake and as I sit here tonight I can't belive how fast time flies.

Our morning started off with saying goodbye to my baby Chase! I hate leaving him, but I knew the trip would be hard with him.

We arrived at the airport just in time for boarding!! See the excitment in Blake's face! If I had a penny for everytime he asked, "Are we almost there?" I would be rich.

Now when I was writing the check to pay for Disney, money that I have been saving for 4 years, many things went through my head. Thinking of all things that I could do with the money...college funds, but when I saw Blake's face when we entered the gates at that moment I knew every penny was worth it.

We are staying at the Carribean resort! It is on a lake with sand beaches and playgrounds. Tonight we just walked around and explored the resort.

Well, this is just the beginning! We are staying in this really neat pirate room. The beds look like pirate boats...so cool! I plan on dressing Blake up in his pirate costume from this past Halloween and take pictures. I'll try to post them tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow morning we are off to eat breakfast with Mickey and ride Dumbo at Magic Kingdom!!
